Nicole Ari Parker has worked in television, film and also on stage. She was best known for her character Teri (the fierce legal) Joseph. Following her marriage, she is also known as Nikki Kodjoe. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an aptitude for acting in her the age of five and was awarded an award for the best Actress award at the Maryland high school contest. After working in theater and 'The Washington Ballet Company she earned a certificate in acting from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was her first big role. Parker has been engaged in politics and is married model and actor Boris Kodjoe. The couple have two daughters.
The family was born in Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria up to the age of seven. Contractor was well-versed in the world and an array of cultures at a very young age. She was educated in an boarding school in London between the ages of 7 and 9. Her family later was relocated from London to Toronto, Canada. Contractor studied and became an expert in classical dancing in Toronto. The Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public high school specializing in the arts), Contractor studied both ballet and theater. Contractor was inspired to pursue acting more seriously at age of 16 following almost 10 years of dancing. Following her graduation from high school Contractor accepted a scholarship at the University of Toronto to pursue a dual major in sociology and psychology. In addition, she obtained an advanced degree in theatre. Contractor was a student who'd spent a year in university, went on to audition at an open call for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadawhich she won the part. After the show ran for 92 times, she was rewarded with glowing reviews. The play was deemed the top production by Canadian the critics. She was invited to enroll in Stratford's conservatory. This is a course that allows only four males and eight women are able to take a 20 weeks crash program in classical theatre. Contractor got a place for the upcoming season of shows and eventually landed the part as Hermia In A Midsummer Night's Dream.
