Contractor was inspired to pursue acting more seriously at age of 16 following almost 10 years of dancing. Following her graduation from high school Contractor accepted a scholarship at the University of Toronto to pursue a dual major in sociology and psychology. In addition, she obtained an advanced degree in theatre. Contractor was a student who'd spent a year in university, went on to audition at an open call for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadawhich she won the part. After the show ran for 92 times, she was rewarded with glowing reviews. The play was deemed the top production by Canadian the critics. She was invited to enroll in Stratford's conservatory. This is a course that allows only four males and eight women are able to take a 20 weeks crash program in classical theatre. Contractor got a place for the upcoming season of shows and eventually landed the part as Hermia In A Midsummer Night's Dream.
